The most important requirements for this course are preparation for class and regular attendance and participation in class. .

I will adhere strictly to the attendence policy adopted by the Department of Classics. This means that every unexcused absence after the third will result in your final grade being automatically lowed by one-half letter grade. More than seven unexcused absences will result in automatic failure of the course, regardless of performance on other work.

The following assignments are also due.

  1. Geography Quiz (5%) on September 11. Study guide

  2. Chronology Quiz (5%) on September 18. Study guide

  3. Interpretive essay(20%) due October 9. Paper topic

  4. Midterm exam (20%) on October 16. Study guide

  5. Group Web Project (30%) Detailed instructions and schedule

  6. Discussion (20%) Each student must participate in the online discussion groups. Students also required to respond and participate in the online discussion space for at least 10 class periods over the semester (15%). Once during the semester each student must lead a continuation of the online discussion in class (for approximately 10 minutes). A signup sheet will be distributed at the second class period. Finally students may earn extra credit by by actively participating in the online discussion for more than 10 classes. Up to an additional 5 points may be earned towards the final grade.
