Biomechanics and hydrodynamics of spitting in Scytodes spp.

Suter, Susman, & Stratton

Scytodes sp. at rest on a leaf. Much of the prosoma is occupied by a multi-lobed venom gland that produces not only venom but also silk and a glue-like substance. The gland is very large relative to the size of the spider.
